In Acton and Agua Dulce it is the school board election and in Agua Dulce the town council election. We sent a paper edition (pdf copy) of the Vanguard which contains extensive information about the election, showing the disaster and the community rejection of our local school district.
The paper show's that we have six excellent candidates running for three open seats on the school board.
My personal choice for the three to elect are Ron Bird, Charles Brink, and Max Duran. But if you choose, in no particular order, Mike Hughes, Fred Helsep or Larry Layton, it will still be a good school board.
Kathy Howald's private slate headed by Mark Distaso also includes Deborah S. Jauregui-Rocha, and Leona Ruth Sexton. These three candidates are running as a slate controlled by puppet-master Kathy Howald. Geraldine Davis, not using her last name Duzick , is the wife Jim Duzick that got us into this mess. Her unique idea is to simply close our school system and make it part of Palmdale.
Unfortunately many candidates have violated the sign law. Political signs are only permitted with the owner's permission on residential property. They are not permitted in the road right-of-way. You will not find a sign for me anywhere. The biggest poster of illegal signs is Kathy Howald and her Brighter Group. She has not filed any of the financial disclosure data which would indicate who is funding her Candidates. Unfortunately, some of the candidates that I'm personally recommending have placed illegal signs in the road right-of-way.
For Agua Dulce the election again is the airport supporters vs the no-airport growth and pro community supporters.
There is no question of who to vote for. The pro-community candidates are: Don MacAdam, Peg Spry, Dee Gonzales, and Patrick Green.
The pro-airport candidates are: Mary Johnson and Lorraine Cangiano. They are the ones you must vote against if you value your rural life-style and property values and want to keep jets and helicopters out of Agua Dulce.
The important thing is to get out and vote and try to be informed about what the candidates intend to do by reading their specific proposals in writing. Candidates frequently steal slogans but then publish no proposals. The Vanguard offered all candidates the opportunity to print for free their statements in the paper. The Brighter Group refused to post anything leaving the question, do they have anything to propose?
Lillian Smith, who prints that advertiser, launched a tirade against me with a claim that the Vanguard is not a newspaper and not published in paper form. What made this funny is her advertiser came in the same mail as the Vanguard News, making her statement that we don't publish in paper form look foolish. We still think she did a pretty good job of holding the Agua Dulce Forum.
Regional planning has scheduled a hearing for December 14. We will follow up on this and inform you in the online paper. You will get more information sent to you if you send us your e-mail address.
