Come to the School Board Meeting on 2-10-02 to see them vote to give themselves a year longer in office and throw away $350,000 in the dance of the modulars which should be used to build d a permanent High School.
Now after the feel good board meeting on February 3, 2005, we come to Wagner's hardball board meeting on February 10, 2005.
This board meeting, which is illegal because the agenda was not posted for public view 72 hours prior to the meeting, contains 24 consent items that are to be voted on without discussion by the board or the public, and are simply an attempt to ratify decisions made in secret by Wagner. In fact, on the entire agenda, the only vote is to extend their term for another year, kind of like the Republic of Togo is doing. In this meeting, Wagner continues to keep the Acton School closed, and has a consent agenda item to spend $350,000+ to strip modulars out of the Acton School and to relocate them to Meadowlark and High Desert Schools so she can reduce the overcrowding she created by closing the Acton School in the first place.
These modulars, of course, will not restore class size reduction (CSR), but are simply to house the kids that have been crowded into every nook and cranny in these two schools. All of these kids could be accommodated in permanent classrooms at Acton without cost.
Wagner also has an agenda item to discuss re-opening the Acton School, but it seems a little insincere after she awards the contract to strip the modulars out of the Acton School, but she doesn't care. It is just another $350,000 of OUR money, which should be going towards OUR kids' education or to BUILD a permanent Vasquez High School, but the $350,000 is going to be used to feed her contractor friends and out of town consultants. If that wasn't the enough, Wagner wants the board, without a vote of the public, and after receiving a severe no confidence vote, to extend their term by one year, without any vote of the people whatsoever!!!
I'll say it hear plainly, any board member that votes to extend their own term or votes to waste $350,000 goes to the head of my recall list, and when we replace the board, we must replace the Superintendent and return her to her community in Palmdale where her consultants and advisors lay in wait
