The Jeremiah Lasater tragedy
Re "Quiet, gentle boy's hidden anguish has tragic outcome" (Oct. 22): The Vasquez High School principal states that her school has zero tolerance for bullies.
If there truly was a zero-tolerance policy in place, the bullying would not have continued on a daily basis. Why is it that no one knows anything is going on until a tragedy like this occurs?
And then all of a sudden everyone knew what was going on but did nothing. Stories come out about food being thrown at him and his pants being pulled down. What kind of cafeteria staff does not see food being thrown around? This is disgraceful!
The district should be ashamed that a child cannot go to school and feel good and safe. The school system failed Jeremiah Lasater and his family.
