The academic staff led by Marty Young again failed the community at Vasquez high school

8-23-06 178 of 229 students passed the exit exam for a rate of 78%. That is down from 88% last year. Among 10th graders, the numbers dropped from 90% in 2005 to 85% in 2006.

We should celebrate the fact that Young and most of his academic staff have left and realize the school board and the new superintendent need to take control of the school, forcing it to concentrate on academic goals and longer class sessions. It's time for the elimination of the sports oriented mentality at the high school and force it to become an academically oriented school.

Sports are good but they must be community supported and not take one minute or one dollar away from the academics of the school.

We must also eliminate the failed idea sold by Roche that we need to leave academics to the academics and not have the school Board manage the school. What would be worse than another failed teacher trying to run the school? The board should never consider her for a candidate for Cindy's seat.

We must manage our high school because the academics have shown their abject failure to manage this school.
