4/03/06 Letter to the community,
Upon reading in the AV Press, Daily News and the Country Journal that our local school board the ACTON-AGUA DULCE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT is going to campaign (again for the fourth time) For a General Obligation Bond, (Approximately $25 million dollars or more.) I found this in and of its self not a major surprise. The surprise comes from the now controlled school board of Kathy Howald who was the campaign manager (called the Brighter Group) of the two new school board members.
Mark Distaso, who is now the vice president, and Leona Sexton school board member have been told how to vote at each board meeting from the back of the room by Kathy Howald. (I did not see her name on the ballot for school board.)
The AADUSD school board voted to hire a firm called Total School Solutions, for a Needs Assessment/ Master Plan and Strategic Plan. This is where the first lie, to us the community, began. Total School Solutions does have a contract (which we the public have not seen!). But it apparently covers getting our level 1 and level 2-development fee's raised. Ron Bird, Max Duran and Charles Brink had already done extensive research on this issue three years ago. Now look at who takes the credit for it. Lets move on now to:
The Master Planning Committee. In reality it is the General Obligation Bond Committee.
We, the Tax paying community, have been LIED to. First they all ran on the pretext of not putting a bond on the ballot. 1st LIE. The master planning committee has instead used our development fees, “which were to be used for facilities for our kids” for their own agenda. 2nd lie. We the people of Acton/Agua Dulce have now paid for their SURVEY and COMMUNITY COMMITTEE MEETINGS “which did not produce enough input from the community” so they are holding more meetings with the students of VHS and staff to compensate for there inability to get the results they want.
In reality this is a cover up for the BOND to be put on the November ballot. All in all this Master Planning Committee is going to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $50,000.00! That's right fifty thousand dollars of our money for our kids. Remember this $25 million or more bond will not stop there, Even if they only put a Bond on the ballot for $17 million dollars in local taxes with the (possibility) of the State Allocation Board matching it with another $12 or $13 million dollars of hardship money. They will do it again and again because all materials will keep going up.
Why can't we get a school board with honesty and integrity? It's bigger Lies with some different school board members…(The Brighter Group - The Brighter Tomorrow)
