Acton Agua Dulce Unified School District

The “Brighter” Truth

11-6-05 By Ron Bird With a majority of three seats on our local School Board being decided in this election, our school district is at a very important juncture. I am one of the ten candidates seeking one of those seats. If elected, I will spend your tax dollars wisely and improve our district for our most important asset, our children.

I am very disturbed at the attack ad and the “NO” signs directed at two of the other candidates, Fred and Max. The ad states it wants to stop the “BLAME GAME”, then goes on and blames Fred and Max for everything.

Please notice that this ad is paid for by the “Vision and Planning” group that mounted the failed recall campaign against Fred and Steve last spring. Leaving no doubt this “Vision” recall group is the same as the candidate fielding “Brighter” group, just compare the exact same icons at the bottom of their two ads in this weeks Country Journal (pages 19 and 77).

Look at the “NO Fred/Max” signs, again with the same icons.

These signs imply Max has been on the Board for four years; the truth is Max was appointed just one year ago. The truth is had the “Brighter” group not wanted Max on the Board back then, just 101 signatures were needed to force a vote of the people.

The truth is Max was offered one of the three “Brighter” slate slots this summer and turned it down, because he felt each Board member should be independent!

The “Brighter” payback, dump the “BLAME” on Max; he did not toe the “Brighter” party line.

The truth is that since Max has been on the Board, the Board has started to turn around. He has been a positive influence on the Board.

The “Brighter” candidates, Mark, Leona and Debbie are all good people, even though their negative backers have spent far more money than all of the other seven candidates combined trying to get them elected.

Please vote on Tuesday. I am just one of the many fiscally responsible independent candidates who really can make a difference for our children. To find out about my positive message and the steps that I propose to bring our district to a better path, please visit my website at: www.ronbird.org .

Please keep our School Board independent. On Tuesday your vote does count. Please make your decisions on what the candidates have to say and not the attack ads of their political action committees.

We need a Board that is open, honest and serves with integrity. The future of our children is at stake.

Thank you, Ron Bird
