Acton Agua Dulce Unified School District Committee Data

8-2-04 Ron Birds objection to Dr. Wagner's cancellation of the 8-5-04 and the entire process of the committee

Dr. Wagner,

Please include the findings that I submitted to you in your report to the Board (see attached). I find it unfortunate that we never reached the point where any reasonable discussions occurred regarding the issues that I have raised in this report at any Surplus Property meeting. This is not surprising since no serious discussions were allowed to have occurred in the past two months at any Surplus Property Committee meeting.

It is obvious to me in the last week, that any proposed actions that you have taken are solely based on your view that serious discussions should not be undertaken, because the "Committee" must rubberstamp administration approved decisions. My recommendation to the Board is that the SP Committee should be reformed or the existing committee should meet again and that it receives recent accurate data requested by the committee that can be seriously reviewed.

It is obvious to me that a new high school will never be built without community support. We desperately need a new permanent high school; this will never happen without the passage of a bond; reuse of the existing Acton Campus is of paramount concern for the community for the passage of a bond, even if this use is only temporary during the HS construction process. Only detailed and accurate enrollment estimates can be used by any committee (or Board) to determine if the Acton site is really surplus and will not be needed to restore K and grade 3 CSR.

Respectfully submitted by, Ron Bird

Greetings, Members of the Surplus Property Committee.

Based on the responses I have received from committee members, there are insufficient members to have a quorum at the proposed August 5 meeting that was to be held at 5:30p.m. at Meadowlark School. We will cancel that meeting.

At the August 5 Board meeting, I will plan to present the report as written, and seek the Board's guidance regarding whether it prefers to accept the report as written or form a new team for continuation of the Surplus Property work.

Thank you for your consideration of the August 5 date.

Linda Wagner
