Acton Agua Dulce Unified School District Bond Election Acton Achool to close

Acton School to close because of declining enrolment while a bond to build an unneeded school is still on the ballot

2-8-04 During the School Board meeting on 2-8-04 the majority of the school board agreed that because of the continuing declining enrollment, the Acton School would have to be closed if the bond passed.

Passing the bond, which will add 20+ million to your property taxes over the next 25 years, will build 24 new classrooms while closing 30 existing classrooms. Admittedly they would be new classrooms instead of the older classrooms (most were rebuilt to current standards in 1988).

The suggestions for the reuse for the Acton School range from selling or developing it as a strip mall, a continuation school for expelled students from the Antelope Valley or the most benign, holding it for possible future expansion.

The key fact is that a yes vote on S is a vote for 20+ Million debt and a net reduction in classrooms!

Only the failed Superintendent Bandaras and the old Board members, lead by Dusick, could play such a sick trick on the community as to propose a Bond that builds buildings that we do not need while closing a perfectly good School with 30 classrooms.

It is a bond which will destroy a 130+ year old school district and must be defeated for the third time.
