With the approval of Measure S, the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District has the opportunity to collect $6.1 million in school construction dollars from the State of California, which can be used to augment the $13.1 million proposed by this bond to build a permanent high school for the children in the community.
Proceeds from Measure S will construct 24 permanent classrooms, science labs, a library, a gymnasium and other core facilities at Vasquez High School. Students in the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District will have facilities equal to those provided to other children in the state through passage of similar bond measures in their communities.
Approximately $4 billion remains of the $11.4 billion in voter-approved Prop 47 state school construction money. The Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District has Division of State Architect approved plans in place and is in line to receive funding upon passage of this bond. With the approval of Measure S, Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District would pursue an aggressive timeline to begin construction of the Vasquez High School project this June.
Accountability to taxpayers for spending bond money is guaranteed. By law, bond money may only be spent to fund projects itemized in the ballot measure, which in this case is the construction of a permanent Vasquez high School facility. Extensive auditing and the formation of a citizen's oversight committee are also required. An annual report of expenditures and construction progress will be made public.
Support our children. Build a permanent Vasquez High School. Vote YES on Measure S.
