Con argument
For the third time in 15 months the Acton/Agua Dulce School District and School Board are attempting to pass another General Obligation Bond.
In November 2002, the School Board voted for a bond (Measure Q) to raise our taxes. A part of that bond (2.5 million) was slated to pay off the previous debt of two Certificates of Participation, with the remainder to go for construction of a high school. Community voters turned it down.
Again, in November 2003, the Board voted a slightly lowered bond (Measure AA). The community again wisely turned it down.
This newly proposed School bond may only be used for construction of a new building!
There has been much rhetoric, mis-information and scare tactics that the District may have to consolidate, de-unify, or even dissolve. These draconian methods are not as easy to accomplish, as the District would have you believe. They are not a General Bond Issue! We urge everyone to calmly look at the entire situation.
The School Board and Administration needs to practice fiscal responsibility. They are obsessing on building, rather than Education!
Vote NO on Measure S.
