The airport’s 50 year history of bad faith means enough is enough. Just close it down!

As we were getting ready to send the newspaper to the printer today, January 19, 2005, there appears to be gross uncertainty over what position the Civic Association intends to take. Nancy Young, the alleged President of the Civic Association, has sent out a letter to some of the Agua Dulce residents indicating what a great deal she has cut for the community. She claims her deal will create a private airport, but totally ignores all the giveaways which include helicopter operations, an unlimited size Country Fair and 4th of July show, the operation of a nearly full time movie studio and hangar space that nearly equals two Costco stores.

And, this private airport’s existence will still allow every airborne terrorist to fly down to your roof level, even if they are not allowed to land at the airport. It will still reduce your property values from 20-40%. Compare this to no airport, which is the Park Overall position and, we believe, the majority of the community, and you decide just who is crazy!

The airport is telling each side (the Civic and the pilots) what they want to hear (a private airport for the Civic and other local groups, and a general aviation airport for the pilots). The airport’s 50 year history of bad faith means enough is enough. Just close it down!
