If you treated a dog this way, you would be a criminal!

8-25-04 - Imagine if you had several hundred dogs and you fenced them into an area covered with blacktop, you provided drinking water but no shade. The kennels were closed and only some of the dogs could get out of the sun. And, of course, you cut down all of the trees when you graded the property and failed to plant new ones.

The animal control officers would arrest you and take the dogs away from you for their safety.

Now imagine the same story, only there are no dogs, but students at Meadowlark School. The community raised money to build shade structures and plant trees but the school board decided to use the money for something else.

It’s a good thing the school board isn’t in charge of a kennel, because they would be up on criminal charges for their actions. But since it’s only our kids, its perfectly OK to the school board.

How many of your kids come home sun burnt and with a latent case of melanoma? Pack plenty of spf 2000 sun block and make sure the kids know how to apply it until the community forces the board to act in kids’ best interest.
