The Bird's Eye View
5-4-04 - by Ron Bird. It seems that April Fool's Day has come on May Day this year at the Airpark. The sign at their entrance now advertises “daily flights to Las Vegas”. Apparently the carrier is Southwest Air, who by the way never has had a fatal accident. Since Southwest only operates 737's, there is great speculation around town as to how they will pull off these Agua Dulce to Vegas flights.
I have a theory on this one. There are gliders at the Airpark; Southwest flights go from Burbank to Vegas daily and fly over Agua Dulce. What if the Airpark attaches a tether to a balloon, so when a Southwest flight passes overhead it can snag that tether and tow the glider off to Vegas?
Sounds like a good plan to me. Don't expect the bugs on this one to be worked out until April 1, 2005.
Editor's Note: You can say a number of things about Barry Kushner and the Airpark but he does have a good sense of humor.
