11-11-04 I wish that everything going on with our school district were as picture perfect as the school administration wants us all to believe. The facts just don't add up. We are not financially sound, but we are still spending money. Not by the hundreds but by the thousands of dollars.
We close a perfectly good permanent school. We change school district boundaries. Then we take away CSR (class size reduction) and cram the kids into smaller classrooms. So far parents don't seem to mind, so I guess its all ok.
But it's still not over yet. Now we have closed a Gym. We found out that the VHS site is not DSA approved. So to continue onward, now the district has to spend another 134,000 dollars for more bathrooms.
Hey guess what! We still have thousands yet to spend on moving the portables from Acton Elementary School to Meadowlark and High Desert after we get the much-needed approval from DSA.
OK! OK! I get the picture, I am not a parent with children in the school district, so why am I complaining?
Its because you, the school district, think I should pay for all your mistakes.
Its because you, the school district, think I should pay without question MY MONEY.
Its because you, the school district, think I should not be concerned,
The school district felt it necessary to turn children against parents and grandparents for your stupidity. The school is not the parent nor is it the family.
You, the school district, shortchanged our kids, not the parents or grandparents, that's why some no longer send our kids to this district. Some of us have stuck with the school board meetings hoping for a positive change. Here all these years later you still can't get it right.
Why do we have all these problems?
We have an inexperienced superintendent and board members that for several years who wish not to utilize the expertise of the highly educated members of our communities.
You disregard any and all suggestions from the public. In the game of chess you have to have a field of battle and a field of strategy, it has to fill the long and short moves to conquer a playing field (the community).
So far this administration has not felt it necessary to communicate with the people who foot the bills. This warlord attitude has got to stop so we can move on and help solve some crucial issues so our kids can settle down to concentrating on their education.
Having people ejected from school board meetings will only incite more animosity from these two great communities.
We all live in a democracy, our freedom of speech is of utmost importance to all.
Last but not least, some resignations would be welcome, the sooner the better.
