The Recall of Kathy Howald

The Vanguard News supported the recall of Kathy Howald.
nd the community agreed 133 yes on recall 43 no on recall

10-29-97 - The recall election was held 10-28-97. The single polling place was in the parking lot in front of the Acton Market on Smith Avenue between Crown Valley Road and Soledad Canyon. (Note the location does not mean endorsement of any of the merchants but is simply the town center.)

Most of the published reasons concerning the arcade and Demyen's water business were not correct.

But the underlying reason is that Kathy Howald, along with most for the so-called Town Council, have conspired to keep the residents of Acton in the dark on all issues. In fact the group passed a resolution a few years ago prohibiting any council member from releasing any information to this paper and appointing the Country Jo urnal as the exclusive "voice" of the council.

Howald and her cohorts supported:

Ritter Ranch and its annexation of parts of Acton into Palmdale.
The expansion of Palmdale sphere of influence through the Vincent area to nearly the fire station.
Doubling of size for the Santiago Square development.
Ralph's 100,000 sf / 24 hour market.
The refusal to hold a recall election when over 1500 signatures were raised to recall them after Ralph's.
Flood control channels which would add a 40-Million dollar tax on Acton property owners.
Prop A assessment that is on you tax bill even though the community rejected it by 66% at the polls.
The proposed county park that will skyrocket crime in the community, and
The total inaction on stop signs to stop the commuters speeding through the community.

Those are a few good reasons to vote for her recall.
