Vasquez Park information

Proposed use restriction

for Vasquez Park proposed by LA County Parks.
It would appear that the County is scaling back the commercial use, limited entertainment to 500 persons which makes sure the 4th of July fireworks will never return to the Rocks. It will keep the Rocks as a natural area - not commercial venue as the Agua Dulce Chamber of Commerce and Art Brewer wanted

Of course they refuse to open their books to the public or to member for that matter. The VRNCA has spent, from what we can find out, nothing on the park but is actively lobbing to hold fireworks shows and to build a museum to draw in outsiders. They claim that anyone opposing fireworks at Vasquez Park is "un-American".

LA County Parks turned down the Agua Dulce Chamber of Commerce and Outlaw town council request to have the 1997 4th of July fireworks show at Vasquez Park. Supervision Antonovich adds in this letter dated 3-11-97:
"I am sorry we are unable to accommodate your request, but I believe you will agree that protecting these resources has to be our highest priority"
If Art Brewer, the Outlaw town council, and his followers really cared about the park they would never ask to have a big event "to put Agua Dulce on the Map". The park is a natural center and preserve it was never indented to serve as commercial venue.
