Acton Standards Ordinance

Halloween held more than spooks and treats for one neighborhood in Acton.

11-1-99 At approximately 12:15 am, according to L.A. County Sheriffs, a fire occurred at 3718 Gillespie St. in Acton. After the fire, which did extensive damage to the house, was extinguished, and during the course of Arson investigation, it was discovered that a marijuana operation was going on at the residence.

There were the remains of 30 to 40 marijuana plants, large heating lamps and a drying table to dry the marijuana leaves. One of the bedrooms had been transformed into a hydroponics growing area and the electricity to the home had been altered to accommodate the growing lamps without detection.

The 33 year old occupant of the home, a renter of less than one year, was taken into custody and will most likely be charged with production of a controlled substance and other illegal activities.

A real local story - across the street!

magenta.gif (79 bytes)The coming risks to Acton

Traffic. When the new lanes on the 14 freeway are opened to just past Escondido road, it will create a huge jam as the freeway drops from 4 lanes to 3 to 2 at the summit. Cal-Trans has widened the Escondido off ramp to 2 lanes. It is expected that hundreds to thousands of commuters will exit to bypass the afternoon traffic jams and travel on Escondido (Syracuse) to Crown Valley then on Gillespie to Soledad. This will place the school kids at risk while they walk home from school. The added traffic will continue to destroy our rural community. The phony town council and the equally phony traffic committee have done nothing to add stop signs to slow down the traffic. We need to take action and bypass these do nothing jerks. Anyone want to help? E-mail me.

The School system is now virtually destroyed with SAT scores lower than LA Unified. Many parents have voted with their feet by placing their students in private schools or home schooling. The School board plans a crummy high school right on the freeway. They totally ignore the fact that the freeway is to be expanded by 4 lanes at that point. The noise and the pollution including the cancer generating diesel fumes are ignored to pay back the school boards political debt. Anyone want to help? E-mail me.

The LA County Acton Park will bring crime and a reduction of property values to Acton. With limited Sheriffs time in Acton the park will become the AV Gangs meeting the LA Gangs to sell drugs. Conveniently just across from the elementary school. Anyone want to help? E-mail me.

cyan.gif (78 bytes)High Speed Rail. The Current High speed rail proposal will destroy Soledad Canyon and remove 100's of homes in Acton for its construction. The alternate proposal is a light rail on the freeway center. That would be more workable that than current State proposal. Anyone want to help? E-mail me.

The Acton and Agua Dulce so called Town councils have continued to ignore the community and have not felt it necessary to release and information to the Vanguard in nearly a year for Acton and 2 years for the Agua Dulce outlaws. The local Acton site (By the way an interesting site well worth your looking at) it does have the Acton candidates statements. Both think they still represent the community. And to Antonovoic's local " aid" Dave Vannatta they totally control your community.

We strongly oppose William R. Daniels, Cherie R. Klimer, Richard Morris and Leona R. Sexton who. currently works on the Park Committee [and] chairs the Traffic Committee. and has done nothing except try to bring the crime assocated with a LA COUNTY park to our rual community Not to mention the huge property tax for the park now on your tax bills, The community voted to opposethe parks in both the 1995 and 1997 elections by more that 65% against it.

See any new stop signs? But how about those new street lights put up at the Meadowlark school by the Dusick controlled school board in total violation of the Acton standards ordinance?

Note: On 11-4-97 the Community throw out the gang that has run (ruined) the Acton Town Council. Any negative remarks on this site refer to that old gang, not the new (11-97) council. Lets give them a chance.

Correction. We had the wrong person listed as the new Acton Town Council Member. Kent Masden Resigned the same night as charges were brought against him and Dick Morris at the 11-17-97 meeting. On 12-1-97 The Acton Town Council appointed Norma DeVincenzi. The minutes are not released to the public until the next meeting which is usually a month. A sharp eye reader found this error.

The so called Park Election Vote NO

Hardly any point in voting as this election as it is controlled by the "Park Committee", run by the recalled Kathy Howald, now claiming to be independent of the Town Council. They will control the ballots and may stuff them as the the water committee did in Agua Dulce.

We recommend a NO park vote and demand that the Prop A tax be removed from our tax bills. Without a park we get "no benefit" which is cause to remove the assessment. Remember nearly 70% voted to oppose the park assessment.
