Acton Town Council Traffic Committee This
group apparently meets privately without any notice to anyone at an undisclosed location.
This paper has demanded the Acton Town Council notify it so we may notify the public of
it's meetings, and they have declined at each point to make pubic notice. Apparently there
are a few good people on the committee that are trying to get things done and other people
who aren't very successful at accomplishing things.
At the school board meeting, several people spoke up about why don't we do something now
instead of waiting for another study or someone else to be injured. The school board
listened and then proceeded to ignore the community as usual, and went on record
supporting whatever the Acton Town Council does in the future, and totally abdicating any
of their rights of leadership whatsoever.
A special meeting was held on 2-25 concerning traffic safety in Acton, hosted by the Acton town council. No notice of the meeting was provided to this paper. About 70 persons attended. Most came because of notices sent home by the school. Our proposal to add more stop signs was well received by most of those attending.
Dave Vannatta of Antonovich's office derided the idea and claimed "it would cause more accidents" and "we should get used to the commuters through our community". He made it clear in his opinion we had no rights and no control and ordered a traffic committee to be established under control of the town council made up only of persons approved by Dick Morris.
"Do nothing' Dick who has publicly supported Ralph's market, Ritter Ranch and the annexation of parts of Acton into Palmdale will control who speaks for Acton
The project died under the Town Council with the only change being radar enforcement on Crown Valley which has virtually no commuters. Morris and Vannatta got what they wanted NO Stop signs to slow the commuters.
We think an alleged town council closed meeting was held at an undisclosed location on 3-10-97, concerning traffic safety in Acton, under control of the town council. No public notice was published and nothing happened as usual. These people just don't get it. If they want public participation they must publish what they are doing
