Acton Town Council Meeting November 17, 1997


On Monday, November 17, the Acton Town Council held their first meeting with the newly elected members. Dick Morris swore in the new councilpersons and then the officers of the ATC were elected.

Kent Madsen resigned from the ATC because he feels that other committees and organizations on which he serves will be in conflict with the goals of the ATC.

President - George Miller, V.P.- Calvin Oglesby Jr. Secretary - Richard Billet, and Treasurer L. Monet Pierce.

New committee Chairpersons, for the various committees were appointed.

Standing Committees - Planning and Coordination Committee- George Miller. Finance, Ways and Means- L. Monet Pierce. Bylaws- Richard Billet. Trails, Open Space and Recreation- Calvin Oglesby Jr. Publicity- Calvin Oglesby Jr. Utilities- Ray Billet. Community Standards- Doug Barnett.

Special Committees - Beautification- Jeff Stoic. Drainage and Roads- Doug Barnett. Rural Town Councils- Calvin Oglesby Jr. Santa Clara River Steering Committee- Ray Billet.

Charges were presented against Dick Morris by Stacey Nickels for a group called Not In My Backyard (NIMBY). There was a Investigative Committee, formed, to investigate charges multiple violations of the Acton Town Council Bylaws by Dick Morris. L. Monet Pierce will chair this committee and investigate the charges.

Presentations of awards of appreciation were given to out-going members of the ATC.

The next ATC meeting will be held on December 1, 1997, at the Acton Community Club at 7:30 PM.
