Acton Town Council Minutes 12/2/96

Called to Order 7:33 P.M. by President Dick Morris Kathy Howald absent, all other officers and members present.

Minutes of November 18, 1996 meeting approved as published.

Treasurer Ruthann Hileman reported all bills paid and a balance of $920.53

Announcements / Correspondence From the Gallery, Edie Jeske reviewed the following items from the L.A.County Board of Supervisors December 3 Agenda : Action to relinquish certain road and easement dedications east of Red Rover Mine Rd. near Escondido Cyn Rd Review of study to consider feasibility of joint operation of former Desert Palms Hospital. Ms. Jeske (Acton Chamber Vice President) invited the Council to attend the Acton Chamber of Commerce Christmas Party to be held December 12th 7 p.m. at the Californian RV Park.

Committee Reports

Planning & Coordinating Chairman Kathy Howald - No Report From the Gallery, Edie Jeske inquired as to the increase in lead time for permits from L.A. County agencies since implementation of the Community Standards District. The Chair indicated that this problem will be discussed with L.A. County officials.

Finance, Ways and Means Chairman Ruthann Hileman Nothing to Report.

Bylaws Chairman Bill Daniels Nothing to Report.

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chairmen Kent Madsen /Paul Weatherman Waiting on meetings with L.A. County to discuss various aspects of parks, trails, etc.

Beautification - No Report

Drainage and Roads Chairman Chrys Hamper Ruthann Hileman communicated with Irena Kieniewicz (Dept. of Public Works) concerning the Crown Valley Rd. Freeway underpass. Ms. Kieniewicz has filed a report with her supervisors, and indicated that the only thing they may be able to accomplish at this time, is to extend the no parking limit signs. Dick Morris suggested that the Council may try again to downgrade Crown Valley Rd. from major to secondary hwy.

Rural Town Council Chairman Dick Morris Paul Weatherman, Chrys Hamper, and Dick Morris attended a meeting of the Assn. of Rural Town Councils held December 21. The group is attempting to reorganize and will meet again on Jan. 23, 7 p.m., at the Palmdale Cultural Center.

The Chair requested that the regular meeting scheduled for December 16, be canceled. No objections noted.
