July 15, 1996 Regular Meeting Acton Community Center
Called to Order 7:37 P.M. by President Dick Morris Tom Haile absent, all other officers and members present.
Minutes of July 1, 1996 meeting distributed, read and approved with typo correction.
Treasurer Ruthann Hileman reported all bills current and a balance of $672.44.

Secretary Bill Daniels reviewed the following correspondence:
Incoming
Thank you letter from Acton Chamber of Commerce for construction of the steel storage shed. A request from the Castaic Town Council for a copy of the Acton Town Council Bylaws.

Kathy Howald announced receipt of an invitation for Dick Morris to attend an Antelope Valley Fair kick-off dinner honoring community volunteers.

Dave Vannatta has indicated that funds are available from L.A. County for access trails
from Rehab center. Motion - Not to continue to pursue application for PropA grant . -

Received information from Nancy Mehaffie (U.S.F.S.) regarding availability of EPA grants
-Will investigate for next year. Indicated plans in the works for an ORV Recreation
facility possibly at Carr Ranch in Arrastre Cyn. Expressed need to investigate A-2 zone
restrictions.
County plans paving of Carson Mesa Rd. east to El Sastre. Dept. of Public Works is
reviewing plans for compliance with Community Standards District .
Hubbard Rd. from Escondido west to Merritt to be closed Tuesday, July 30 , 0730 to 1030
for surfacing. (The Chair called a 5 minute recess to examine a copy of Dept. of Public
Works plans for Carson Mesa Rd. Project. )
Finance, Ways and Means Chairman Ruthann Hileman Expressed feeling that a rummage sale is best way to raise funds. Will introduce a proposal at 2nd meeting in August or 1st meeting in September.

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chairman Tom Haile - No Report
Publicity Chairman Gerry Williams reported that all materials received had been posted in the display boxes.
Utilities Chairman Chrys Hamper - Nothing to Report.
Community Standards Chairman Kathy Howald Wisconsin Av. Fence - L.A. County zoning
enforcement to contact office of District Attorney.
Will send one more courtesy letter regarding illegally placed Real Estate signs and, if no
response, Will contact
Zoning Enforcement.
Beautification Co-Chair Chrys Hamper / John Spence Soledad Cyn. Rd. Dump site will be
cleaned and bermed this week.
New graffiti on Soledad Cyn. Rd. between Wisconsin and Michigan on road signs, also on
Sierra Hwy. at Hacienda .
Trash along Soledad Cyn Rd. between town center and Aliso Cyn. Rd.
Ruthann Hileman expressed concern about trash on Crown Valley Rd. opposite Don Cuco
Restaurant.
Drainage and Roads Chairman Chrys Hamper - Nothing to Report.
Rural Town Council Chairman Dick Morris - Nothing to Report.
Santa Clara River Steering Committee Chairman Kathy Howald Will attend meeting July 24 . Still examining reports.
Election Committee - Chairman Kathy Howald Everything progressing normally for November Election.
Old Business
election of replacement for Jeff Wadsworth made by secret ballot from the following candidates: George H. Miller and Lois Yates. Ballots counted by Edith H. Jeske. Results in favor of George H. Miller.
New Business
The Chair questioned the practicality of maintaining the separate PO Box 998 used only for elections. No action taken. The Chair requested that the regular meeting scheduled for August 19 be canceled - Adopted by Unanimous Consent. The Chair announced the next regular meeting to be held Aug. 5, 1996. 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center.
