1-23-05 One has to thank the Acton Town Council for gathering up the community to put a halt to the offensive off-road vehicle park (ORVP) planned for the top of the mountains between Crown Valley and Palmdale. A highlight of the meeting was when the Town Council president asked if any Acton resident supported the ORVP and the entire room sat in silence.
The County pandered with their normal argument that there is no road into Acton from the park. That of course should be phrased "now", but how long will it take the off-road riders to cut their own road to the park from the Acton side.
A few who will remember we fought to convert Crown Valley from a major highway, 6 lanes wide including all of the urban "improvements", and Mike Antonovich supported us and removed it from being an urban highway.
Now for the best part, Michael Antonovich heard our complaint, along with Palmdale’s similar objections, and directed the Parks Department to not even begin the study because "the community has spoken".
Note to the Council, we would sure like to publish your minutes and agendas and items before the Council.
