The old Acton roster

Recipes

This got started as when we bought the old "Simpson" house in Acton we got three old trees with funny looking inedible lumpy fuzzy, hard fruit. We learned they were Quince.
Quince Cydonia oblonga Miller (Pyrus cydonia), Rosaceae. The quince fruit is fragrant, fuzzy, and yellowish when ripe. It is roughly pear-shaped, but lumpier and typically larger than a pear. The fruit must be eaten cooked since it is very astringent raw; the cooked pulp has a pretty pink color.
