Virginia was born (4-16-1921) in a rural area outside of Calgery Canada where her Father had come from Arkansas to repair electric motors in the Canadian oil fields. Virginia and the family moved to Los Angeles in 1923 to work in the Los Angeles Oil Fields.

She married Charles Brink in 1938.

In 1947, for the health of her son Charles Jr., the entire family moved to Acton.

Virginia died peacefully without added trauma in her home, which they built in 1948 after living in a tent for a year.

Memorial services in Acton were held at Sean Cauldwell’s home, on Sunday, 6-25-00.

LA services were held at Lucile Brink's Home on 6-21-00

She was interned on June 20 at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills where husband Charles Sr. (10-8-86) and Parents WA and Philomena Ware are buried.

After my mother was hospitalized in March, her drugs that were causing paranoia and confusion were stopped. Her mind then cleared and she than wrote me a letter apologizing for all the bad things she was coerced to do.

The following letter was hand delivered to her home. Simms refused to give the letter to mom or have it read to her. A good family friend then went to the ranch, read her the letter, over the objection of Simms. Subsequently, a meeting was held on Mothers Day and Simms was removed from the property and his influence over her ended.

April 12, 2000

Dear Mom,

I got your note today and the book. I appreciate the note saying you are sorry for what has happened, and so am I.

But, I look back and remember all the wonderful things that you did for me before your illness and the drugs you have to take to sustain your life affected you.

I remember your learning how to inject me with adrenalin when I was a young child of five or six, to save my life from asthma attacks. I know it was something you did not want to do, but you did it because you had to. I still vividly remember the clinking of the needles and glass syringes when you boiled them on the stove.

Then of course when you uprooted everything to move to Acton to live in the most primitive conditions - a tent without electricity, water or telephone with the old fashioned convenience of an outhouse. All of this so I could survive where the air is clean. It would take a hundred pages to describe all the other things you have done and maybe I’ll write the story someday and publish it as a personal history.

You’ve taught me right from wrong and to strongly fight injustice in all forms which I will continue doing for the rest of my life.

I do not blame you for the things that you have been forced to do under the undue influence of your so-called friends,

I know that many of the things you were sorry for were done under the effects of these life sustaining Parkinson’s medicines drugs that clouded your mind. These drugs, along with the various lies from the so-called friends who were only interested in enriching themselves at your expense, caused your actions.

I know that you would never have done these things or taken these actions without their undue influence and their knowledge that the drugs would make you susceptible to their undue influence. I will hold those people responsible.

I will only remember good things about you. I am writing you this letter because I still have the Flu and do not want to make your life more unpleasant by catching my Flu.

I love you mother, and I dearly thank you for raising me. Nothing that has happened, or that you have done changes this.

Love Your son Charles

This a response to a story that was planted by my political enemies in Country Jourinal. They realized the only way they could get back at me was to hurt my mother who was venerable with her weak and fragile health. This response was published in a print copy of the Vanguard News in February 1996. At the next School Board meeting hundreds of copies of the Country Jourinal were returned to the publisher Lillian Smith with hand written notes condemning her actions.

Have you read the latest hit piece in the 1-14-96 Country Journal against me. I have it on good sources the next Journal will have me abducted by aliens or visa versa.

A personal tragedy used for political gain

The page one story attributed to my mother is a personal tragedy made worse by false reporting. My mother has had Parkinsons disease for the last 12+ years. For those who are not familiar with Parkinsons, it is a degenerative disease of the voluntary components of the brain. The good news is the discovery in 1969 of drugs such as L-dopa which allows movement and the bad news is the terrible side effects of that same drug.

For those want to see more, rent the 1990 movie Awakenings to see the first use to unlock Parkinsons patients. Unfortunately the patients had paranoia and psychosis and they could not function.

Some of the possible side effects are uncontrolled muscle movements, shaking of the hands, weakness, confusion, sleeplessness, nightmares, hallucinations, anxiety, agitation, tiredness, sudden extreme slowness of movement (on-off phenomenon); mental changes, including paranoia, psychosis, and depression; and slowdown of mental functioning.

The facts are simple. Because of poor investments, she has little left after my Father died 10 years ago. I promised him to take care of Mom forever as he was dying. To date I have loaned her over $175,000 by paying her living costs. Every cent of her small savings, pension, and social security has been spent exclusively on Mom. I have paid for most of her attendants during her illness.

The “care giver” from Hell, who started this event has been on our payroll since she started in March of 1994. Thinking Mom was rich, she wanted a big raise and control of Mom's money. We objected and then she fed my Mom’s paranoia for her gain.

The facts are simple. Neither I nor my brother has received a cent from here since her illness and I have instead spent over $250,000 for her support.

In addition, for the last 10 years I have paid for all improvements and maintained her home, hauled in water, telephone bill, all wood to heat the house, a 1980 Volvo station wagon after her car failed, a 1985 Volvo because she preferred a sedan, 99% of the car maintenance, a significant portion of her food and supplies, cooked low salt foods and provided them frozen, used our motor home for her nurse to live in, replaced her television, 2 VCRs, radio, recorder, telephones, etc. as hers failed, provided bedroom furniture, a wheelchair, walker, commode, Franklin stove, wood rack, cabinets and far more items than we can remember.

We have spent 1000s of hours dealing with her medical problems and according to her doctors “saved her life” by having her transferred to Northridge Hospital after Mom was taken to Palmdale Hospital suffering from an overdose of her medicine. During this time Mom suffered attacks of paranoia including stating that “persons were trying to kill her and steal her property”.

The political side

The story about Mom, written by Lillian Smith, is wrong and filled with lies and distortions. Why would she print it on page 1 without checking the facts, which are fully documented in bank and brokerage data?

Smith and the Country Journal are controlled by the pro urban forces that want to urbanize Acton and Agua Dulce and make it part of Palmdale. She printed no news of the problems and the concerted effort to Urbanize the community.

Why is this on page one while the following stories are not even mentioned:

1. Sewers and a city water system could be imposed on Agua Dulce.

2. The local school is just a few months from being taken over by LA County and merged into the Antelope Valley School system.

3. Hundreds of parents have pulled their kids out of the local schools for private schools, because of the dumbing down and poor quality of our schools.

4. A 1200 unit trailer park will bring the drug and violent prone gangs into the local schools. Santa Clarita is trying to close down these crime filled trailer parks and relocate them into our School District.

5. The new Acton trailer park at the fire station.

6. The strip mining of southern Agua Dulce.

7. Installation of a large propane tank and distribution of liquid propane above Acton Canyon, causing a huge fire risk to the community for a developer’s gain.

8. The illegal signs and graffiti everywhere.

9. The Hot oil pipeline through the middle of Acton and Agua Dulce.

10. The increasing crime and traffic from the Antelope Valley. It is predicted home invasion robberies will start here because of the total lack of sheriffs’ protection and isolation.

11. No safe trails (read rural sidewalks ) for our kids.

12. and many, many more important issues ignored.

On the lighter side

Lillian Smith’s Country Journal dated January 14 contains a report of the meeting on the 18th, four days after the paper was dated. Her paper was in the stores on January 24. She cannot even get her dates straight or she belongs to the psychic network.
