8-15-04 Legendary stuntman Terry Leonard will be the first person honored when a Legends of Agua Dulce program is launched during the 34th annual Agua Dulce Fair.
The late trick roper Montie Montana will be honored posthumously during the fair, being held Oct. 2, with a star on the city's Walk of Fame.
Leonard, a 21-year resident of Agua Dulce, has performed in movies ranging from early westerns to modern-day action thrillers. In addition to being honored with his own star, Leonard will also serve as grand marshal of the fair.
"I'm proud and honored to be chosen as an honoree for Agua Dulce's Walk of Fame," Leonard said. "Agua Dulce has been home to me for many years, and is home to others whose names I hope to see included next to mine as the years go by."
Montana was a superb trick roper who made a name for himself as an actor, stuntman and rider in films, rodeos, television and radio. He lived in Agua Dulce for many years and was an active member of the community, helping to conceive and plan the earliest Agua Dulce fairs and parades.
Montana's son, Montie Montana Jr., will accept his father's honors at the fair.
The celebration honoring Leonard and Montana will take place at noon Oct. 2 at the Agua Dulce Women's Club, 33201 Agua Dulce Canyon Road, Agua Dulce. Tickets are $45. For information or tickets, call Linda Ewing at (661) 268-8088 or visit www.aguadulcefair.com.
